The 602 series houses are nine-storey large-panel buildings (6 storeys are also common), whose load-bearing structures consist of expanded clay concrete wall panels and reinforced concrete slabs. There is a separate bathroom, a loggia and a relatively large kitchen. Built from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, when they were replaced by the 119 series.
This project has been built in several variants, also with duplex apartments in Mezciems. Mainly located in Purvciems, Mezciems, Imanta, Plavnieki, Ziepniekkalns, Vecmilgravis and Ilguciems. The first house was assembled in 1967 in Dzelzavas and Vaidavas Street corner.
Positive factors:
o Convenient layout of apartments (especially for 2-room apartments).
o More comfortable and spacious staircases.
o Large loggias.
Negative factors:
o Possible waterproofing damage to panel penetrations and end walls.
o Problems with penetrations of building walls (especially end walls).
o Poor thermal insulation.
o Minimal retrofit possibilities.
